SUSTAINABILITY AT GODIVA

OUR VISION

GODIVA is dedicated to our vision for a sustainable and thriving cocoa industry where farmers prosper, communities are empowered, human rights are respected, and the environment is conserved. We can achieve this through both a holistic understanding of our supply chain and undertaking a transformational approach from the farm level to your shopping basket. ‌The following is an overview of where we are on our sustainability journey.

OUR JOURNEY & PARTNERS

As a company committed to producing premium chocolate, GODIVA understands that we have an important role in driving change across the entire cocoa industry. We are making progress by working with our partners to implement responsible practices that support our mission.‌

In partnership with the World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) and the Cocoa & Forests Initiative (CFI), GODIVA published our Responsible Cocoa Commitment in 2020.

3 PILLARS OF THE RESPONSIBLE COCOA COMMITMENT

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND REGENERATION

HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITY

HUMAN RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITY

TRANSPARENCY & COLLABORATION ALONG THE SUPPLY CHAIN

GODIVA recognizes traceability & transparency are key elements for ensuring a responsible cocoa supply chain.

Godiva has a goal of

100%

traceability to farm level

BY 2025

and we are working with our suppliers to achieve this goal.

AS OF 2022, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TRACE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN FOR

98%

of our cocoa supply:

87%

coming from Côte D'Ivoire,

10%

from Ghana, and

3%

from other regions.

WE HAVE BEEN PROUD TO PARTNER WITH

EARTHWORM FOUNDATION

GODIVA has two main suppliers for the cocoa used in our signature couverture and chocolate recipes – Onem and Barry Callebaut. In partnership with the former, we have established the GODIVA & Onem Together Beyond Cocoa Program, which continues to help us deliver on our commitments to protecting people and planet in cocoa growing communities.

The Beyond Cocoa Program works to source GODIVA’s supply of cocoa from Onem in Côte d'Ivoire from approved cooperatives, and working in partnership to implement deforestation monitoring and child labor remediation programs. While this program with Onem continues to develop, GODIVA continues to push our other suppliers to engage with our Responsible Cocoa Commitment -- especially in areas of living income, child labor, and deforestation.

Our Plan

GODIVA is proud of the significant changes we have made over the past few years as we push toward our priority goals of 100% traceability to co-op and farm by 2025. ‌
